Kyle Maier is an artist and filmmaker (Kamio Media) based in Albuquerque, NM. His instinct for storytelling oscillates between digital media and visual art. He has exhibited polaroids, short films, and paintings, and is currently working on a documentary film series about the history of Canyon Road in Santa Fe, collaborating with artists from all over the state to tell a uniquely New Mexican story.
Maier's stencil paintings are inspired by both past and present. His choice in medium comes directly from today's world of street art, but his depiction of historic New Mexico is a nod to the print makers of early 20th century Santa Fe. He is influenced by Gustave Baumann as much as he is Banksy. Most of Maier's art, whether films or stencils, is inspired by this metaphorical crossroads between contemporary art and historic tradition.
